Recently, a good friend who happens to be a succesfull woman in the world of academia, spoke about decisions that are made from the heart. What does it mean to make a decision from the heart? Give it some thought and consider it carefully.
When you come to an important crossroad in your life, it is good to consider all the facts as you have them when you are taking the decision. What will be the consequences of choosing one path instead of another? What does the fork at the road look like? What are the options available to us? And so on and so forth.
We can rationalize our decisions, we can put them on a page analyzing the pros and cons…but at some point, I think we must inevitably take a leap. For some, this means listening to their “gut” or intuition. For others, taking the leap means “following one’s own heart.” As I sit at my desk writing this, I have a small glass red heart sitting right on top of my keyboard. It sits there to remind me to make decisions from the heart. I rarely go wrong when I listen to it.
